Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of backers, Creation have been successful in raising over £18,000, which is the money needed to replace the giraffe house boiler!
In November, Creation launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for a new boiler and play equipment for the Giraffe House.
As many of you will know, over the last 18 months Creation has been running the Giraffe House in Burgess Park as a space for local organisations. It has become a thriving partnership group of sports, arts and cultural clubs running an amazing programme of after school and holiday programmes, ensuring over 200 young people are regularly using the building. The space also provides office space for community groups, a nursery, a cycle workshop and a training room.
Though it is much loved, the building is in need of some care and attention and not long after Creation took over, the boiler broke down. This meant groups using the building have been putting up with some pretty grim conditions, but no longer!
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of backers, Creation have been successful in raising over £18,000, which is the money needed to replace the boiler!
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the fundraising campaign, which covered individual donations of between £10-£50 and donations from organisations like Burgess Sports, Burgess Tennis and the Amateur Boxing Association and a very generous donation from Esmée Fairbairn Foundation who pledged £6,000. We are incredibly grateful for every single pound, thank you so much!
