About Creation

Creation is helping transform the Aylesbury Estate into a thriving neighbourhood by delivering social and economic change. Creation is a chance to change our lives for the better.

Who we are

The Creation Trust, a community development trust, is the successor organisation to the Aylesbury NDC. Creation exists to promote a better working and living environment for everyone based in the Aylesbury Estate area.

We're working together to create change so we can lead happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives. Creation is continuing to build upon the improvements to residents' lives that have been achieved by the NDC. These improvements have been delivered to such an extent that we are outperforming the rest of the country in some key areas, and we want to make sure that this continues.

As residents, we're having our say in how to create 21st century homes, a greener environment and better opportunities for our future. Almost half of our Board members are residents - so Creation is helping local people to influence decision-making and benefit from the opportunities presented during the redevelopment of the Aylesbury Estate.

We're developing dynamic partnerships between communities, local and central government and businesses during the regeneration of the area.

Creation is unique, in that no other type of organisation can act solely on behalf of Aylesbury Estate residents to deliver investment into the area from both public and private sources. As a charitable trust Creation will exist only to support social and community programmes for residents of the area.

Our pledge

Creation will:
  • Support social and economic improvements to the area by co-ordinating, commissioning, developing and delivering local projects that will help to change residents' lives.

  • Help residents to communicate with partners and other agencies by providing training, support and advice during the regeneration process.

  • Act as a focal point for services and projects offered by voluntary organisations to the area, to make sure that residents' needs are being met.

  • Identify the priorities for continued funding from the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Mainstreaming
At Creation, we want to identify the ongoing needs of local residents and find ways to meet those needs. One of the ways we are doing this is to make sure that projects which have already changed residents' lives continue to be delivered by other public or third sector bodies.

Several NDC projects have already been mainstreamed, and we will make sure that other local projects designed to raise the quality of life locally are supported in the longer term by our partners.

New and emerging partnerships
We are also working with new partners to develop strategies to meet people's needs well into the future. While we may identify what local people want, some existing organisations may be better placed – thanks to their local knowledge, contacts and experience - to provide the services needed to change lives in a truly sustainable way.

Creation will also help to develop social enterprises that will be staffed and managed by local people offering their goods and services to other locals, ensuring that money generated locally will stay in the area and help to build its prosperity.

Creation as a local voluntary sector organisation
Creation operates as a charity, which means we have the ability to generate and receive funds to support and deliver local projects designed to improve people's lives. We will use these funds to continue to meet the needs of residents.

Through Creation, we'll help to create lasting change for ourselves.
